Who is Sara Eydmann ?

Person taking a selfie while hiking on a grassy mountain trail, wearing sunglasses, a blue scarf, and a red vest under a cloudy sky.

I am a 29-year-old Scottish girl.

I am autistic and ADHD and have fallen in love with ultra-marathon running and the freedom that I have found with it. I have found my voice in this space after embracing being neurodivergent after a late diagnosis, and I wish to help people find their place of peace in whatever that might look like.

I am training to become a person-centered and psychodynamic counsellor and on placement practicing two days a week.

I have never done anything like the North Coast 500 so it will truly be a new experience that will test my limits. I couldn’t do this attempt without the support of my team which I am so grateful for.

Sara’s running journey

I have run frequently over the years but have not ‘competed’ properly. I raced in OCR (obstacle course racing) for about 2 years in 2016/2017, which gave me experience in racing; however, I decided that was not for me.

I have worked as a fitness instructor for eight years, which has helped with my endurance and strength.

I ran my first official marathon in October 2023, which gave me the confidence to impulsively sign up for a 6-hour loop ultra in November 2023. Being the first female in both these races gave me a massive boost to try and start dreaming.

Competing in 2024 was a great experience whilst battling some injuries.

It was while recovering from a stress fracture in March 2024 that I came up with the idea of running the North Coast 500. The project has been a work in progress since then.
