Running became a much bigger part of my life than I expected.
I am a counsellor, ultra runner, speaker and creator working within the endurance world, but the running came first as something I simply enjoyed.
I always enjoyed running. I just never thought it would become this.
I was never especially competitive and I did not grow up imagining myself as an endurance athlete. Running was just something I liked doing.
In 2023 I ran my first marathon and loved it. Four weeks later I ran my first ultra and realised pretty quickly that the longer, more complicated version suited me even better.
Since then, trail running and ultra racing have become a major part of my life, alongside the work I do around athletes, mental health, speaking and content.
The more there is to manage, the more interesting it gets.
What I like about ultras is not only the distance. It is the combination of terrain, fuelling, pacing, weather, kit, fatigue and all the decisions that change throughout a long day.
Trails give my brain enough to do. There is structure, but also unpredictability, and I like having to keep adjusting rather than simply following one plan.
Read the full running story →It is not only about the race.
Running has given me much more than a list of finish lines. The places, people, challenge and constant problem-solving are a huge part of why I keep coming back.
Beautiful places
Trails and mountains take you through places that feel completely different when you experience them on foot.
Problem-solving
Long races rarely go exactly to plan. I like working out what matters now and adjusting as the day changes.
The community
I have found the trail and ultra world open, supportive and much less cliquey than many traditional sporting environments.
Bigger questions
Every time I finish something difficult, the obvious next thought seems to be: what could I try next?
I understand why sport can matter so much because it matters to me too.
That does not mean my experience is the same as every athlete I work with. It simply means I understand the language, routines, ambition and culture of endurance sport from inside it, not only from a textbook.
Julian Alps next. Then seeing how far I can take this.
I am currently building towards the Julian Alps in September and thinking more seriously about what I want the next few years of running to look like.
I do not have every race or goal mapped out yet. What matters more is continuing to develop as a runner, taking on bigger challenges and seeing where this side of my life can lead.
Running is personal. It also connects into the work I do.
My work within the endurance world spans counselling, speaking, writing and content, all with a genuine understanding of the people and culture behind the sport.
Running
Training, races, ultras and whatever bigger idea comes next.
→ 02Sport Counselling
Mental health support for athletes, teams and performance environments that looks beyond performance.
→ 03Speaking + Writing
Honest conversations around endurance sport, eating disorders, mental health and the person behind performance.
→ 04Social + Content
Social media and content support for athletes, races and sport-focused brands.
→The runner and the counsellor are still the same person.
The Therapy and Sport sides of my work have different audiences and different purposes, but they are connected by the same thing: I care about the person behind what they do. Sport is simply one of the places where that matters most to me.
